If you're all booked in for your newborn photoshoot, then you can relax! There's very little you need to do now, I've got this! But if you've got questions or just can't wait, then here's a handy guide so you know what to expect.

What to know when booking your newborn photoshoot . . .
After you've contacted me to book in your newborn photoshoot I will send you a questionnaire asking for a few details, including your due date. I'll then go ahead and block out some time around that date. When baby is here let me know and we'll pick the day/time.
We can see how you're feeling after the birth as to whether you come to the studio or I come to you. Different photographers have different suggestions for the best time to have your photos done. If you want really sleepy, posed baby photos then within the first two weeks is ideal. However, we don't always feel up to it that early and that's fine! If baby is a little older than that and very awake at the session we'll approach it as more of a lifestyle session and we'll get some nice awake photos of their gorgeous eyes.
On the day . . .
I have a selection of outfits and wraps for babies and mothers, I've got the props and the rest of the gear.
But it would help to bring a couple of bits you'd usually bring with you anyway! Extra nappies, change of clothes etc.
The one thing I'd suggest is to bring extra milk if you express or formula feed! This is because I keep the studio very, very warm for your baby's comfort. So they often need the extra fluid and milk helps keep them settled anyway, so win-win.

With this in mind, I always remind parents to wear light layers too, so you don't get quite so hot.
As I've said, I do provide outfits and wraps for your baby but if you've got something special you'd like to bring, then please do! As well as any special blankets/soft toys/ props of your own that you'd like photographed.
During the newborn photoshoot, I'll work with your baby to make sure they're safe and comfortable and you can relax. I've undertaken newborn safety workshops and training, so you can have peace of mind and relax. For lifestyle sessions or sessions where parents and siblings may want to be involved then I'll give light direction so you know what we're doing but I also like to focus on connections and genuine interactions, so I won't be constantly giving my orders!

After your newborn photoshoot. . .
Once your session is complete you'll receive a video preview of your gallery within a week. Your full gallery will be finished in two weeks and then depending on what package you've chosen, we'll begin the process of image selection. I'll email you a link to view your images and we'll go from there!
If you have any questions still or are ready to book then email me at mariachelseyphotography@outlook.com or fill out the form on my website.
